HOW TO USE:
- Disconnect the negative battery cable: Ensure the vehicle’s electrical system is completely powered down for safety.
- Choose a mounting location: Select a suitable and visible location on your dashboard or instrument panel for the tachometer.
- Prepare the mounting hole: If necessary, create a 3.3-inch (84mm) diameter hole for the gauge to fit.
- Connect the wiring:
- Connect the power wire (typically red) to a switched 12V power source.
- Connect the ground wire (typically black) to a solid ground point on the vehicle’s chassis.
- Connect the tachometer signal wire (often yellow or green) to the appropriate signal source (negative coil terminal, coil trigger wire, or ECU tach output, depending on your vehicle’s ignition system).
- Connect the illumination wire (if present) to the vehicle’s lighting circuit so the gauge lights up with your other instruments.
- Mount the gauge: Insert the tachometer into the mounting hole and secure it using the included gauge mounting ring from the back.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable: Once all wiring is securely connected, reconnect the vehicle’s negative battery cable.
- Program the Pulses Per Revolution (PPR): Following the manufacturer’s instructions (usually involving pressing a button during power-up), set the correct PPR for your engine’s cylinder configuration. Refer to the Speedhut documentation for the appropriate PPR setting for your specific engine.
- Test the gauge: Start your engine and observe the tachometer to ensure it is reading the RPM accurately.
