Description

The ReadyTrace 75 ft. Self-Regulating Heat Trace Cables (READYTRACE-075) offers a dependable and effective solution for safeguarding residential, commercial, and industrial properties from the damaging effects of freezing temperatures. Proudly designed and manufactured in the United States, this heating cable provides versatile protection for various applications, including pipe freeze protection, roof and gutter de-icing, and safeguarding outdoor surfaces. Its self-regulating technology automatically adjusts heat output based on ambient conditions, ensuring efficient operation and reduced energy consumption. This system is engineered for simple, hassle-free installation, making it a trusted partner for homeowners, contractors, engineers, and facility managers seeking peace of mind through every cold season.

KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS:

  • Self-Regulating Technology: Automatically adjusts heat output in response to temperature changes. It increases power when exposed to ice and snow and decreases it when the area is clear, optimizing energy use and preventing overheating, even when overlapped.
  • Versatile Freeze Protection: Ideal for protecting small and medium-diameter pipes from freezing and rupture, as well as for de-icing roofs, gutters, and downspouts to prevent ice accumulation and water damage.
  • Easy, Pre-Assembled Installation: Comes in a predetermined 75-foot length with a pre-attached 6 ft. lighted NEMA 5-15 plug, ready to be plugged into a GFCI-protected circuit for quick and straightforward setup.
  • Residential & Commercial Application: Suitable for a wide range of uses, from protecting household pipes to providing comprehensive coverage for long pipe runs and extensive rooflines in larger commercial or industrial facilities.
  • High Quality & Reliability: Designed and manufactured in the United States using proven compounding, extrusion, and cross-linking technology to ensure continuous operation and extended life expectancy.
  • Cost-Effective Solution: Provides efficient protection against winter’s challenges at an affordable price, helping to prevent costly damage from frozen pipes and ice dams.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Length: 75 ft. (22.9 meters)
  • Voltage: 120V
  • Watts per Foot: 6 W/ft (at 50°F / 10°C)
  • Maximum Maintain Temperature: 140°F (60°C)
  • Minimum Operating Temperature: -40°F (-40°C)
  • Bus Wires: Nickel-plated copper (20 AWG / 0.6 mm²)
  • Outer Jacket: Polyolefin overjacket
  • Power Cord Length: 6 ft. (1.8 m)
  • Plug Type: Lighted NEMA 5-15 (Standard US electrical outlet)
  • Certifications: ETL Certified, UL 515-2015 Ed. 2, CSA C22.2#130:2016 Ed. 4

HOW TO USE:

  1. Inspect the Cable: Before installation, carefully unroll and inspect the ReadyTrace cable for any visible damage. Do not install if the cable appears cut or compromised.
  2. Plan Placement: Determine the optimal path for the cable along pipes or in gutters and on roof edges to ensure comprehensive coverage. For pipes, ensure the cable makes good contact with the pipe surface.
  3. Secure the Cable: Use appropriate fasteners or specialized heat trace tape (avoid metal straps or wire that could damage the cable) to secure the ReadyTrace cable firmly to the pipe or roof/gutter system. Ensure it is tightly adhered for efficient heat transfer.
  4. Connect to Power: Locate a standard 120V electrical outlet that is GFCI-protected. Plug the ReadyTrace cable’s lighted NEMA 5-15 plug into the GFCI outlet. The plug will illuminate when the cable is receiving power. If a GFCI outlet is not available, utilize an inline GFCI option.
  5. Add Insulation (for pipes): For pipe applications, cover the heat trace cable and the pipe with thermal insulation. This conserves heat, improves efficiency, and helps maintain consistent temperatures.
  6. Monitor Operation: The self-regulating nature of the cable means it will automatically adjust its heat output as temperatures change. Monitor the plug’s light as an indicator of power.
