The chamfered back edge makes it easier to extract the bit from the work. Other features include a machined lead screw with burr-free threads which helps feed the bit through wood at a consistent rate, a machined straight shaft for concentrically which eliminates wobble leaving a truer hole, the quick-change shank allows fast, secure change outs, and the heat treated metal provides bit durability.
