CTA Tools 6500 Automatic Transmission Clutch Spring Compressor

• Use to remove and install the snap-ring on the long reverse piston and return spring, without removing the center shaft and clutch assembly from the transmission housing
• Services GM, Ford, Toyota and other vehicles
• Trans Clutch Spring Compressor

Instructions:

1. Set-up

• Remove the snap-ring & clutch pack from the drum
• Install tool’s spring arm shoes in snap-ring groove that held the clutch pack in
• Compressing the tool’s spring arms, install the tool
• Set the tool’s pads on top of the return spring cage
• Adjust the pads and lock in place by tightening the wing nuts

2. Snap-ring Removal

• Turn knob on top of tool clockwise, until the spring cage is compressed

DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE CAGE

• Compress enough to create room to release the snap-ring
• Remove snap-ring using snap-ring pliers

3. Remove tool

• Turn handle counter-clockwise
• Compress spring arms to remove shoes from groove
• Remove tool & lift off the clutch drum spring retainer

4. Final Steps

• Remove the return spring
• Remove the parking pawl
• Remove the long reverse piston

5. Snap-ring Installation

• Reverse above steps
