Location: Klingspor’s Woodworking Shop – Winston-Salem
Date: June 20th
Time: 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Cost: $125.00 per student
Experience Level: Beginner
Class Size: Maximum 4 students per session
Join our special summer workshop and commemorate America’s 250th anniversary by handcrafting your own colonial-style wooden lantern.
Drawing inspiration from the lanterns that illuminated the path to freedom in the 13 colonies, this class offers you a unique opportunity to create a timeless heirloom for your home.
Your lantern will be crafted from beautiful cherry wood and feature solid brass hardware. With three glass windows, a mirror reflector, and a six-inch candle, your lantern will cast a warm, authentic glow reminiscent of Paul Revere’s ride and the spirit of Valley Forge.
Students will punch a brass heat shield with a pattern of their choice, including patriotic themes. You’ll complete the final shaping of wooden parts, install glass, and work with sheet brass and wire.
No prior experience is necessary – all materials and tools are provided (though you may bring your own hand tools or a cordless drill if you prefer).
