ECE hand planes combine Emmerich’s meticulous quality with the economy of traditional hammer-set irons secured with wooden wedges.Heavy irons are solidly bedded for smooth, clean performance.Bodies are dense European beech and soles are long-wearing hornbeam.As in all Emmerich planes, the workmanship is simply outstanding.
At 9-7/16″ long this jack plane could pass as a largish smooth plane.The body is 2-9/16″ wide; the iron is 1-7/8″ wide and has a metal chip breaker (referred to also as a double iron).This style of plane is narrow enough for vigorous roughing as well as smooth finishing.
